COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to the 3600 block of North County Road 250W, on Thursday at 7 a.m., in reference to a two-vehicle accident involving a school bus with eight juveniles on board.
Upon arrival, deputies observed the bus and another vehicle, both with minor damage. There were no injuries. However, as a precautionary measure, Columbus Regional Health EMS checked all eight students.
BCSO says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
“I am certainly happy that no one, especially none of the children, was injured in this accident,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers.

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to a personal injury crash at U.S. 31 and County Road 100S, on Friday, just after 6 p.m. The accident, involving four cars, completely closed U.S. 31 in both directions, from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
A few minutes later, at around 6:10 p.m., as a direct result of traffic backed up from the first crash, BCSO said a second personal injury accident occurred when the driver of a pickup truck realized too late that traffic was at a standstill on northbound U.S. 31.
The pickup skidded sideways, avoiding the backup, but a semi-tractor trailer behind it was unable to stop and struck the pickup as well as another car that was stopped at the end of the line of traffic.
