KSA Flights Restart: Backlog of migrants to take a month to clear
It will take around a month to clear the backlog of some 10,500 Saudi Arabia-bound Bangladeshi expatriate workers who were stuck in the country due to the Gulf nation s two-week suspension of all international flights.
Saudi Arabia s General Authority of Civil Aviation yesterday announced the resumption of all international flights amid strict precautions against the new Covid-19 strain.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines will resume flights on three routes Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam from January 6, while Saudi Arabian Airlines will resume flights from January 5, said officials of the two airlines.
Kathmandu [Nepal], December 22 (ANI): Nepal on Tuesday instructed international airlines to ensure it does not carry passengers originating from or transiting through the United Kingdom until further notice to prevent the spread of a new variant of Covid-19 detected in the European nation, which is said to be more infectious than previous variants.
In an official notice, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal instructed that incoming flights should not board passengers from the UK. This is of your urgent attention to ensure that the aircraft bound to Nepal shall not onboard the passengers originating from or transiting through United Kingdom (UK) due to the severe contagion of new strain of coronavirus in UK. The entry restriction for such passengers into Nepal shall be effective from 2359 hrs NST of 23 December 2020 until further notice, said the notice.
205 passengers arrive at Sylhet from UK, asked to stay in home quarantine
Two hundred and five passengers arrived at Sylhet from the United Kingdom on Thursday.
With them, a total of 1,369 passengers arrived at Sylhet from the UK in the month of December alone.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight with 205 passengers on board arrived at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet from Heathrow Airport in London on Thursday (Dec 31) morning. Doctors of the health department at the airport asked them to stay in home quarantine.
It is learnt that the Biman’s flight with 237 passengers on board from the UK landed at Osmani Airport in Sylhet at 10:30am. Afterward, 205 passengers came out of the flight. Later, the aircraft left with the rest 32 passengers for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 11:30am.

ETBL Securities MD Rizwan elected DCCI president

Rizwan Rahman, managing director of ETBL Securities & Exchange and a director of Eastland Insurance Company and daily Financial Express, has been elected president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) for 2021.
Holding different DCCI posts since 2006 on attaining higher education from the United Kingdom, he heads several segments of ETBL Holdings, which also has a presence in dredging infrastructure, commodities trade, cold storage and furniture.
Rahman also served as a director of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries and Bangladesh Philippines Chamber of Commerce & Industry and as vice president of Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
