Black Woman Who Alleges She Was Forced By TSA to Remove Shirt Says She Was a Victim of Racism: Is it Because I m a Black Woman?

A Black woman is questioning whether race was a factor in a Transportation Security Agent’s decision to force her to remove her shirt at a security checkpoint at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport last month. “Is it because I’m a Black woman?” Aundrea DeMille questioned when speaking to ABC 4 this week. The incident happened on Feb. 28 when DeMille approached a Delta Air Lines security checkpoint inside the airport. She was returning from hiking in Sedona, Arizona, and was wearing a half-zip top. DeMille says the TSA officer made her remove the shirt, which was the only thing covering her sports bra. DeMille walked through the scanner in only her bra.

Advisory issued as northern Arizona to see heavy snow Thursday night through Friday Mike Cruz and Kaila White, Arizona Republic Some areas of northern Arizona were blanketed with rain and light snow early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The heaviest snow was expected Thursday night.  A winter weather advisory was issued for the high terrain of Yavapai, Coconino, and Gila counties including Prescott, Flagstaff and Williams from 11 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday, according to the weather service. Areas are expected to see 2 to 6 inches of snow.  Snow was reported along Interstate 40 from Ash Fork to Winona and on Interstate 17 as far as State Route 89A, according to the weather service. Travel was expected to be hazardous along I-17 and I-40 near Flagstaff and portions of eastern Yavapai, southern Coconino, and northern Gila counties.

Much of Arizona saw gusty winds and warm temperatures on Wednesday, leading officials to warn of dust, low visibility for driving, and ideal wildfire conditions.  The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for much of Arizona on Wednesday as gusty winds, low humidity and high temperatures presented possible fire conditions. A dust advisory was issued after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday as parts of Maricopa and Pinal counties saw gusts of wind over 40 mph, causing visibility as low as 1 mile in some places. The dust advisory expired at 6:30 p.m., according to the weather service.
