A session of the National Assembly called to vote on the expulsion of the French ambassador from Pakistan one of the key demands made by the proscribed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) was held in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The government had called the session to debate the French envoy s expulsion, and a PTI lawmaker presented a resolution in this regard. However, before a vote could take place on the resolution, the speaker announced the formation of a special committee to discuss the matter and asked the government and the opposition to engage with each other to develop consensus on the issue.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Tuesday said that the recently proscribed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has agreed to call off protests across the country. Talks with the party will continue, he said.
He announced that the government would present a resolution on the expulsion of the French ambassador in the National Assembly today.
In a video statement, he said the decision was taken after another round of talks with TLP.
The minister said that cases registered against TLP workers under the Fourth Schedule will also be withdrawn, adding that he will give a detailed briefing on the development via a press conference later today.

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Pakistan’s government on Tuesday announced to introduce a resolution in Parliament on the expulsion of the French ambassador and quash all cases filed against the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) as it reached a deal with the radical Islamist party following a marathon round of talks.
“Under a marathon round of talks and an agreement reached with the TLP, a resolution on the expulsion of the French ambassador will be presented on Tuesday in the National Assembly,” Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said in a video statement.
