Gwen LeBlanc, Ascension Parish’s treasurer and chief financial officer, is set to retire after 47 years of service.
She was honored during the May 20 Ascension Parish Council meeting in Gonzales.
Council Chair Teri Casso gave an emotional testimony in presenting LeBlanc to the crowd at the courthouse.
“You have inspired a whole generation of women that they can compete and succeed in a man’s world,” Casso said.
Parish President Clint Cointment presented a proclamation, naming LeBlanc as Ascension Parish Treasurer Emeritus.
According to the proclamation, LeBlanc, a lifelong parish resident, began her career with the Ascension Parish Police Jury in 1973. First, she was employed with the parish’s CETA Administration, and later served as assistant to the parish secretary-treasurer.

FARMINGTON HILLS For the 37th consecutive year, the city of Farmington Hills has been presented with the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards program in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare high-quality budget documents that reflect the guidelines of the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting, according to its website.
Algonquin launches financial transparency dashboard

In an effort to provide a more inclusive and transparent budget, the Village of Algonquin recently launched a new financial transparency dashboard. The interactive reporting tool allows citizens to explore up to five years of Algonquin s budget and actual data online.
Users can view data in interactive, visually attractive charts and graphs; drill down and filter data by department, expense type, fiscal year and more.

Our financial dashboard, along with our existing transparency portal, makes it easier than ever for our residents and business owners to see exactly how the village is spending money.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - For the 13th year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Town of Oro Valley the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2020 budget.
The award represents a significant achievement by the Town of Oro Valley. It reflects the commitment of Town Council and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
In order to receive the budget award, the Town had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:
The new trail off the 14-year-old Farm and Forest Trail is a collaboration of Shaker Village, Mill Town and Greenagers. HANCOCK, Mass. Mill Town Capital, Hancock Shaker Village, and Greenagers are collaborating to reveal the archeological remains of five Shaker buildings from 1800 in a new trail that opens in mid-July. The route will be a spur off the U-shaped Farm and Forest Trail that runs through the southern woods below the historic Hancock Shaker Village on Route 20. In the spring 2021 session of the Berkshire Outdoor Recreation Summit, representatives from the entities explained how the partnership is tying in historical education, outdoor recreation, and art in this project.
