A snowman on a stretcher started a county-wide competition among agencies to see who could build the best display. The snowman outside of the Pulaski County 911 Center is trying to help dispatch the winter weather away. The Somerset Fire Department chose to name their fire-snowman Frosty. It’s possible to have a competition where everybody wins. Several Somerset and Pulaski emergency and enforcement agencies proved that Thursday. What started as a small way for Somerset-Pulaski EMS crews to have fun in the snow turned into a snowman building competition between them and the Pulaski County Detention Center, with Pulaski County 911 Center and the Somerset Fire Department stepping in as well.

Somerset man sentenced in child abuse case

Christopher D. Haynes A Somerset man who was accused along with his wife of abusing their grandson has been sentenced after pleading guilty to an amended charge. Christopher David Haynes was sentenced February 5 in Pulaski Circuit Court to four years in prison for second-degree Criminal Abuse. Haynes and his wife 55-year-old Lana Jane Haynes were jointly indicted in December 2019 on one count of first-degree Criminal Abuse of a Child 12 or Under. Both initially entered not guilty pleas to the charge, which stemmed from an investigation by the Somerset Police Department. SPD Captain Mike Correll reported at the time that the foster parents of a 10-month-old boy contacted police July 31, 2019, after the child s grandparents had returned him from a visitation. During the exchange, the Hayneses told the foster parents that the child may have bruises because another child hit the baby with a toy.

Somerset man accused of bringing meth and heroin into PCDC

Commonwealth Journal Feb 6, 2021 A Somerset man was arrested by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Thursday on drug-related charges after a traffic stop. Brandon Mayfield, 31, is charged with first-degree Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine and first-degree Possession of a Controlled Substance – Heroin. According to PCSO, the charges stem from an earlier investigation by the Kentucky Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole. Officer Jason Hardwick, with the Division of Probation and Parole, and Eubank Police Department Chief Tony Duncan conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on North Ky. 27. In that traffic stop, officers spotted and took into custody Mayfield, who was being sought on Pulaski Circuit Court Indictments for multiple counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and Fentanyl, as well as being a Persistent Felony Offender.
