The Florence County Sheriff’s Office said the FCSO Narcotics and Criminal Enforcement Unit initiated the stop on Tuesday for a moving violation on TV Road near Florence. A deputy noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle while approaching, which began a probable cause search.

Marquis Poteat Arrested In South Carolina For Shooting Death Of MTA Mobility Driver Frankye Duckett CBS Baltimore 1 hr ago Syndicated Local – CBS Baltimore BALTIMORE (WJZ) Police have arrested 33-year-old Marquis Poteat in the murder of Frankye Duckett, who was fatally shot earlier this year while on the job as an MTA mobility driver in Baltimore. Duckett was shot inside an MTA bus in northeast Baltimore as he was dropping off a passenger at the end of January. Poteat was arrested in Florence, South Carolina, with help from the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force. He’s being held in a Florence County jail while he awaits extradition back to Baltimore later this month.

Baltimore police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that Poteat was apprehended by U.S. Marshals and Florence County sheriff s deputies. Poteat awaits extradition back to Baltimore later this month. In January, police said Poteat and another man, Ernest Ford, shot and killed Frankye Duckett on Jan. 29 on Moravia Road in northeast Baltimore while Duckett was on his route. Ford was arrested in January. Baltimore police said Poteat will be charged upon his return with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and firearms violations.
