FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - The Florence County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who was found in a wooded area on Sunday.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken said 50-year-old Mary Brown of Timmonsville was found inside a vehicle.
Maj. Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office added that the body was discovered near East Old Marion Highway and Ashby Road.
The coroner said Brown’s body will be autopsied Wednesday morning at MUSC in Charleston in order to find out exactly how she died.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Deputies in Florence County want to remind residents that open carrying of firearms is not allowed in South Carolina.
“Deputies are encountering an increasing number of people openly carrying a handgun, under the mistaken belief that the law has been changed to allow them to carry openly,” the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The statement also noted exceptions in the law, such as allowing those in control of real property to carry a handgun openly, and authorize others to do so.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Pee Dee man is facing murder charges in connection to a deadly shooting.
Maj. Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said deputies are investigating the incident, which happened in Johnsonville on Saturday.
Nunn also said 22-year-old Jaylin Tyhon Zeandre Thompkins, of Johnsonville, was later arrested by investigators.
Thompkins is charged with one count each of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Authorities are investigating after a body was found in part of the Pee Dee on Sunday.
Maj. Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said the body was found in a wooded area near East Old Marion Highway and Ashby Road.
Nunn added the case is being treated as an “apparent homicide.”
The Florence County Coroner’s Office is also investigating.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) â A former lieutenant in the Florence County Sheriffâs Office decided to plead guilty to a federal charge connected to an illegal gambling operation.
Court records submitted earlier this month show that Mark Fuleihan withdrew his not guilty plea and entered a guilty plea to count one of the federal indictment, which was operation of an illegal gambling business.
The plea agreement shows that the penalty for the charge is a fine of $250,000, no more than five years in prison and no more than three years of supervised release.
