On Wednesday, Feb. 3 just after 8:30 a.m., Pettis County Deputies arrested 50-year-old Joseph P. Wheeler of Sedalia. He was wanted on an outstanding probation violation for failure to register as a sex offender, and also on a felony Johnson County warrant.
On Tuesday, Feb. 2, Pettis County Deputies responded to 22051 Chevalier Road for a burglary report from the Roadway MiniMart. Several items were taken during the burglary. No suspects were identified. Anyone with information on the case are urged to contact the Pettis County Sheriff s Office or call the TIPS hotline.
Two Arrested After Pettis County Chase
The vehicle failed to yield and fled south on Route H towards Sedalia.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was successful in deploying stop sticks at Cherry Tree Lane. Both passenger side tires were deflated by the time they approached Sedalia Road, while units continued at moderate speeds.
The vehicle continued into the city limits of Sedalia on rims where it ultimately crashed into a parked vehicle near South Ingram and 16th Street.
Two individuals were taken into custody with the driver having multiple warrants out of Pettis County.
“Slower speeds, deflated tires, and low traffic played into the decision to continue this pursuit. Everyone is safe with no injuries reported. This is excellent work and good decision making on the fly by our deputies and supervision. Well done,” remarked Sheriff Brad Anders in a Facebook post.
The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department is alerting the public about a potentially dangerous fugitive.
According to a news release, a BOLO (Be on the Lookout for) has been issued for Donald Hammond, a 30 year-old white male, who is considered to be armed and dangerous.
You are urged to not attempt to apprehend Hammond, whose last known whereabouts was north Break Time on Rebar Road in Sedalia.
Hammond is wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
If you see him or know the whereabouts of Hammond, you are urged to not approach him and immediately call the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office at (660) 827-0052 or call 9-1-1.
Two individuals are in custody pending formal charges after the execution of a search warrant in Pettis County on Thursday, January 29.
According to a release from Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders, at approximately 11 a.m., the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force and Miller County SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 1200 block of South Carr Avenue in Sedalia in reference to alleged drug activity.
This warrant was the result of a Pettis County Deputy conducting a drug investigation/interdiction stop. Intelligence was gathered by the task force, Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and Sedalia Police Department, which culminated in the issuance of a valid search warrant and the seizure of methamphetamine and Fentanyl.

On Jan. 26, Pettis County Deputies attempted to stop a green Dodge Dakota on Highway 50 near Route MM for a careless and imprudent driver. As deputies activated emergency lights to stop the vehicle, the driver continued eastbound towards Sedalia. Due to the amount of traffic, deputies terminated the pursuit for safety reasons.
On Jan. 25, Sherry Sumner of Sedalia reported to the Pettis County Sheriff s Office that her license plate was either lost or stolen from her utility trailer in December.
On Jan. 25, Pettis County Deputies conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 50 near Crystal Springs Road in La Monte on a vehicle exceeding the speed limit. During the stop, deputies located marijuana as part of a probable cause search of the vehicle.
