This week s
Monday Night Raw will close out 2020 by crowning a new challenger for Drew McIntyre s WWE Championship. Last week s Raw saw Keith Lee and Sheamus come to blows in the main event despite numerous attempts from McIntyre to keep the peace. Now Lee and Sheamus will battle over who becomes the No. 1 contender for WWE s top prize.
Elsewhere on the show, Charlotte Flair will look to get her long-awaited revenge against Nia Jax. Flair missed a large chunk of time this year due to surgery and was originally written off television when Jax (in storyline) injured her backstage at the WWE Performance Center. The Christmas Day edition of SmackDown was also the blue brand s final episode in 2020, so WWE made sure to pack the card with three title bouts and a grudge match.
The show opened with Roman Reigns defending the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens inside a steel cage, putting them back in the ring together just five days after their encounter at Tables, Ladders & Chairs.
The Women s Tag Team Championships were also on the line when Asuka and Charlotte put the belt up against two other teams. Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks joined forces while Bayley and Carmella formed the other duo.

This Friday s edition of WWE SmackDown on FOX, which airs on Christmas night, was taped in advance tonight (Tuesday) at the WWE ThunderDome in Tampa, Florida. In a move that will allow the production team and performers the chance to be with their families on the holiday, this will be the first taped edition of SmackDown since early on during the pandemic when shows were being taped in advance.
One major spoiler from the tapings is already out. According to F4WOnline, Big E defeated Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn in a Lumberjack Match to become the new intercontinental Champion. This is the second time that Big E has held the title, as he won it originally way back in 2013.

Reports of WWE looking to expand its developmental system to other countries have been popping up online for well over a year, with the latest being that NXT India in early 2021. On Monday
Wrestling Inc. dropped a new report about another brand that is on the horizon, this one centering around Lucha libre in Mexico.
After dubbing the project, NXT Mexico of sorts, Raj Giri reported, The show would reportedly air in the U.S. WWE has spoken with a few people about running the project, but it is very early on in the planning stages. One of the names being considered as a consultant on the project is Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Sunday s Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view gave fans a lot to talk about, including the apparent murder of Bray Wyatt by Randy Orton.
During their Firefly Inferno match, The Viper set The Fiend s entire body ablaze in the middle of the ring. It brought back memories of The Undertaker being burned in his casket, but this time, we saw the body go up in flames.
We also saw Charlotte Flair return to help Asuka win the Women s Tag Team Championships, and The Hurt Business defeated The New Day to become the new Raw tag team champions.
