The Belton Independent School District moved forward in preparations for a 12th elementary school on Monday when trustees approved the hiring of a construction manager at-risk â a hire, who will begin working with architects in exploring designs.
During a meeting last month, the Belton ISD school board authorized Superintendent Matt Smith to issue a Request for Proposals for the position.
Mike Morgan, Belton ISDâs assistant superintendent of operations, said Smithâs request â which inquired about proposed fees for construction management and pre-construction services â spurred five submissions from general contractors by June 28.
âBased on the evaluation process, the district is recommending Cloud Construction Co. Inc. as the construction manager at-risk for the design and construction of elementary No. 12,â Morgan said in a staff report.

BELTON, Texas The Belton Independent School District announced Monday that it is making masks optional starting Tuesday, May 25.
This announcement comes after Belton ISD s Board of Trustees met to discuss how to handle Gov. Greg Abbott s May 18 executive order, which prohibits governmental entities, including public schools, from enforcing a mask mandate.
For schools specifically, mask mandates are allowed to remain in place until June 4, according to the executive order. That is 10 days before the last day of school for Belton ISD, which is June 14.
