Premium Content Subscriber only A woman who stole a car and left the engine running while she stole another, before crashing into a shed, has been granted bail to attend rehab. Jessica Honey Fallon, 26, from the Sydney suburb of Casula, pleaded guilty to a range of charges when she appeared before Byron Bay Local Court via video link on Monday. These include two counts of taking and driving a car without the owner’s consent, destroying or damaging property, negligent driving, driving while disqualified, possessing housebreaking implements and two counts of having goods in custody suspected of being stolen. According to court documents, Fallon was arrested shortly after 4.20am on September 16 last year.

Nicholas Stafford Sharp, 39, from Ocean Shores, faced Byron Bay Local Court on Monday. Mr Sharp has not lodged formal pleas to any of the charges against him. But the court heard there was some confusion about the state of the allegations. Magistrate Karen Stafford said only two allegations of assault occasioning actual bodily harm were before her. But a total of six charges, all relating to an alleged January 10 incident in Byron Bay, were listed elsewhere. Defence solicitor Ian McKay told the court “new charges” had been handed to him.

Solomon Christopher Burke, 21, from Carrara, pleaded not guilty to charges of reckless wounding, being armed with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm when the case against him went before Byron Bay Local Court on Monday. Police will allege Mr Burke used a pair of broken scissors to wound Neerim Peters recklessly and assaulted Jakeb Osborne, occasioning actual bodily harm to him, in Byron Bay shortly after 5pm on November 11 last year.

Police skip a step with fresh charge against arson accused

Premium Content Subscriber only Police have incorrectly filed a second charge against a man accused of setting a Byron hinterland home alight, a court has heard. Isaac Lehane, 25, from Mullumbimby, is facing a charge of intentionally or recklessly destroying a home by fire with intent to cause bodily injury. The charge relates to a blaze which destroyed a home on Tyagarah Rd in Myocum in the early hours of Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Police will allege a pet dog died in the blaze. Mr Lehane was arrested over the alleged incident on November 4 last year. When he faced Byron Bay Local Court for the second time on Monday, Magistrate Karen Stafford queried whether a second charge now before her had been served upon the defence.
