Maharashtra Cabinet Minister And NCP Leader Nawab Malikâs Son-In-Law Sent To Judicial Custody In Drugs Case

Maharashtra cabinet minister and NCP leader Nawab Malikâs son-in-law Sameer Khan has been sent on a two-week long judicial custody on Monday,
India Today reports.
This followed the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) telling the Esplanade Magistrate Court that they do not need to interrogate Khan anymore. His lawyers have revealed that they will file for a bail application in a few days, though the NCB had arrested him on 13 January.
Sameer Khan is apparently involved in a major drug nexus pertaining to British citizen Karan Sajnani. The latter had imported marijuana via US through courier and the NCB officials raided his residence after getting to know of the same.

The bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni was hearing a batch of petitions against the “media trial” following the actor’s death.
The court noted that trial by media interferes with the police’s criminal investigation. “Reconstructing of crime scenes, interviews with potential witnesses, leaking sensitive and confidential information should be avoided,” the bench said. “Press/media ought to avoid discussions, debates relating to criminal investigation and should confine only to informative reports in such matters in public interest.”

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a Nigerian national who swallowed 12 pellets or capsules containing cocaine after being apprehended by agency officials on January 14. The accused was arrested from outside a prominent five-star hotel in Mumbai s Juhu area on the basis of a tip received during the interrogation of another suspect.
