Police investigating death of inmate in La Porte County

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate who was being held at La Porte County Jail in Indiana.
On Tuesday, Joel L. Ohms, 45, was found unresponsive inside his cell by a Jail Division member, according to a release from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.
The jail staff immediately began to render aid until La Porte County Emergency Services arrived and transported Ohms to an area hospital, officials said.
A short time later around 7:30 a.m., Ohms was pronounced dead.

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. Two guns and drugs were seized and three people were arrested following a traffic stop on US 20, according to the La Porte County Sheriff s Office.
Early Wednesday morning, a deputy was traveling eastbound on US20 when he noticed a vehicle that was traveling above the speed limit and crossed the white fog line three times, according to deputies.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
While speaking with the three occupants of the vehicle, deputies saw a firearm in plain view and located a synthetic drug that had been thrown out of the vehicle, deputies said.

Two crashes on US 20 within 30 minutes leaves three injured and one dead LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. A Mishawaka man has been charged with reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash that happened on US 20 in November, according to the La Porte County Sheriff s Office.
On November 20 around 4:30 p.m., deputies responded to a four vehicle crash on US 20 at CR 200 East.
The initial investigation determined Arthur McNeeley, 61, rear ended a vehicle traveling eastbound on US 20. McNeeley s vehicle then drove into the westbound lanes of US20 and struck the front of a vehicle driven by Brian Klingerman of Bremen.
