Attributable to Hamilton City Area Commander, Inspector Andrea McBeth: A 18-year-old Cambridge man has been charged with murder in relation to an incident in Nawton, Hamilton. A 43-year-old man died following the incident at an address in Aileen Place this morning. The 18-year-old is appearing in Hamilton District Court on the murder charge tomorrow. We are still in the early stages of the investigation, however, we are not seeking any further people in connection with the matter. ENDS

MIL-OSI New Zealand: Police seek witnesses to Porirua serious assault

Source: New Zealand Police (District News) Police are seeking witnesses to a serious assault that occurred outside the Metro Sports Bat, Porirua in the early hours of Sunday morning. At around 12:30am, a man was attempting to break up a fight between a group of people outside the bar. During the incident, he was struck on the back of the head by another male and was subsequently transported to Wellington Hospital with critical injures.  He remains in hospital in a serious condition. Police are making a number of enquiries to identify the offender, including reviewing CCTV footage. Police are also speaking to witnesses, however we would like to speak to anyone else who witnessed the assault or who was at the bar on Saturday evening and has information that can assist our enquiries.
