Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board officials stated their intention is to welcome students back on April 19th, after the April Break. Despite the stay at home order, they do not intend to change this.
Sean Monteith, the Director of Education stated that maintaining safe learning environments are their commitment and will continue to be throughout the pandemic. It was also stated that increased cleaning will take place throughout the break in their facilities.
The schoolboard also advises parents to get children tested for COVID-19 before classes resume.

As students prepare for their upcoming spring break and a Stay-at-Home order comes into effect across the province, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health (HPEPH) and local schools agree that keeping students in class continues to be a priority, provided it remains safe to do so.
The Quinte region has broke another pandemic record, in the first day of the third province-wide shutdown.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 22 new COVID-19 cases today. That brings the total of active cases to 107, a number that has not been seen since the start of the pandemic.
Staff note that three people are now in hospital, with two in ICU.
A total of four outbreaks have been identified:
1 case connected to a workplace in Quinte West
3 cases connected to a workplace in Trenton
5 cases connected to a workplace in Belleville.
4 cases connected to a school/child care facility. Health unit has not identified the specific place.
