Prince William County Social Justice Committee divided on how to approach issues

Prince William County Social Justice Committee divided on how to approach issues In the wake of last year’s protest over the killing of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, many localities across the nation put together groups and committees dedicated to addressing the problems of racial and social injustice. Prince William County was no exception. It created a Racial and Social Justice Commission to study the status of social justice in the county and make recommendations on how to address those issues. However, that seems to be a case of easier said than done. Recently, during a Zoom meeting, Gainesville District Supervisor Peter Candland and Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega were given to members of the commission to update the community on their progress. The discussion revealed that there’s an existing schism within the commission.
