Staff carry out vaccinations at the former Askham Bar Park & Ride site HEALTH professionals from across the York area vaccinated a significant number of care home residents against the coronavirus over the Christmas period, it has emerged. Professor Mike Holmes, chair of Nimbuscare, which runs the mass vaccination site on the former Askham Bar Park & Ride car park, said staff had been working tirelessly to offer the vaccine to priority groups and the work would continue over New Year. On behalf of our Primary Care Network (PCN), we have been taking deliveries of the vaccine and have already vaccinated a significant number of people in our care homes over the Christmas period, he said. This work will continue over New Year. Staff have been coming in on their days off and cutting their holidays short to do this work.

It has been a month since the Open Door opened the doors on the 24/7 hub in the Wetaskiwin Civic Building and Wetaskiwin City Council is now considering amending Land Use Byalw 1804-13 to redistrict the property from Downtown Commercial to Direct Control to allow for the integrated support hub use until a more permanent solution is found.

They have all been contacted by their GP practices in recent days to arrange their appointments. The first vaccines to be delivered nationwide were on December 8 through ‘hospital hubs’, as only acute hospitals had the necessary cold storage facilities to keep the virus at minus 70 degrees centigrade.
