After dithering procrastination the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has pledged to commence the planned validation and registration of party members next week.
Ever since the plan was first revealed last year it has remained a source of acrimony among party members struggling over the soul of the party.
The struggle first consumed Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who was shoved out as national chairman last year.
Reflective of the viciousness in the struggle, those against Oshiomhole and his group ensured that the party’s candidate in the 2020 governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu lost in the Edo State governorship election.

Governor Akeredoluâs âUltimatumâ
When I heard that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, learned Senior Advocate of Nigeria, had issued an ultimatum for all Fulani Herders/Herders to leave Ondo State, I thought it sounded bizarre, because like any other Lawyer, let alone a Senior Advocate, he is well aware of of Sections 41(1) & 43 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)(the Constitution) which guarantee our right to freedom of movement and acquisition of immovable property anywhere within Nigeria. I knew that he couldnât have made such an obvious and basic error. Not like some Northern Youths and their âKaduna Declarationâ of 2017, in which they issued an ultimatum for all Igbos to vacate Northern Nigeria by a particular date, or face reprisals; or those who have sought to expel Bishop Kukah from Sokoto, because of his Christmas Day Message.
The committee initially had 10 members but was later expanded to 23 members.
Lukman in a statement on Monday, titled, “Ethnic and Religious Hatred and the Deceitful Campaigns in Nigeria” argued that the implementation of the report would reposition Nigeria and end the current inter-ethnic crisis between the Yorubas and Fulani herders in the South West and ethnic clashes in other parts of the country.
“Although yet to be implemented, the report of the Mallam Nasir Committee on True Federalism provides a standard template of how a party in government should handle difficult challenges of polarisation.
“Certainly, if the party was able to move recommendations contained in the report of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai Committee to the level of implementation, the current levels of misplaced anger against the APC and the federal government in the country would have been moderated.
