Online Renewable Materials Conference 2021 organized Which renewable materials are solutions that meet the needs of future societies?
As a response to this question, nova-Institute has decided to unite all relevant industries in the new Renewable Materials Conference from May 18 to 20, 2021, featuring a concept to present all renewable material solutions at one event: bio-based, CO
2-based and recycled. There is a growing market demand for advanced and ready-to-use renewable-material solutions with a low carbon footprint that are fossil-free.
The three-day program of the first Renewable Materials Conference is almost final and gives an overview of the latest renewable material solutions, a performance show for a wide range of sustainable raw materials and technologies.
UK scientists to trial genome-edited wheat developed to slash acrylamide levels Scientists from Rothamsted Research – the longest-running agricultural research institute in the world – have used genome editing to develop a type of wheat that is less likely to produce acrylamide when baked.
The UK researchers are hoping to take their trials to the next level. The team has applied to the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to run a field trial of the
genome-edited wheat – the first such trial to be carried out in Europe – slated to begin in the autumn.
Acrylamide was first discovered in food in 2002 and is described as ‘extremely hazardous’.
AB InBev invests $159m in UK breweries Budweiser Brewing Group is investing £115m ($159m) in two UK breweries to meet growing demand for off-trade beer sales.

The investment will increase capacity by 3.6m hl (the equivalent of 630 million pints) and create 55 jobs in addition to the 1,000+ people already employed across the two sites.
A £72m ($99.5m) investment at the Magor Brewery in South Wales will see capacity increase by 1.6 million hl. A new bottling line was installed in 2020; and will be followed by eight new 8,000 hl fermenting units to increase brewing capacity this year. An improved wort cooler, beneficial for beer quality, which will also lead to significant energy savings of 40 million MJ a year. A total of 32 new jobs will be created in operational and management roles.
