Move to help Maha Vikas Aghadi government provide free vaccination
All Maharashtra Congress MLAs will be donating one month salary to the Chief Minister relief fund as a commitment to the free vaccination decision taken by the State government.
Announcing the decision, Congress legislative party leader and State’s Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat on Thursday said that he will be donating his one year salary for the fund. In addition, ₹5 lakh on behalf of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) will be donated, he said.
“Maha Vikas Aghadi government has taken an important decision to provide free vaccination to all the citizens of the State, even though the State is facing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 crisis. It is our humble attempt to help the State government by making meagre financial donations to the relief fund,” said Mr. Thorat. This will amount to nearly ₹2 crore.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 29 (ANI): Ahead of the third phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, MaharashtraCongress on Thursday announced to donate nearly Rs 2 crore for vaccination expenses to the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF).
Speaking to the media at his Royal stone residence Maharashtra cabinet minister and senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said that he will be giving his one year s salary to the CMRF while adding that other 53 Congress MLAs will also deposit their one month s salary to this fund, which will amount to nearly Rs 2 crores.

Congress party, which is sharing power with Shiv Sena and NCP in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, has refuted the charges made by the leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis that the state government was playing politics in the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has also retorted Fadnavis allegations that the Maharastra Police was harassing a Daman-based Remdesivir supplier for agreeing to supply a stock of the drug to the state on the request of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
