Maharashtra Govt, Deshmukh move SC against CBI probe order

New Delhi, April 6 A day after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe into former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh’s allegations of corruption against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, the state government and the NCP leader today filed separate petitions in the Supreme Court against the directions. Agency rushes team to Mumbai The CBI has sent a team of officers for a probe into the charges of corruption against Anil Deshmukh. As the HC had given the CBI only 15 days to complete probe, the CBI had taken swift action, officials said. Mumbai-based lawyer Jayshree Patil on whose petition the HC had ordered the probe also filed a caveat in the Supreme Court to pre-empt any chances of ex parte order on the petitions filed by the government and Deshmukh who was forced to resign after the HC order.
