Man accused of choking, smelling underwear denied bail

Premium Content Subscriber only A Coast man accused of choking a teenager and sniffing his ex-partner’s underwear has been denied bail due to his “extremely concerning” behaviour. The Noosaville man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Friday and charged with 12 varying domestic violence offences, including assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and choking. Police will allege the man assaulted an 18-year-old man by choking him in the residence of his ex-partner’s home, and also armed with scissors made a series of threats and assaults towards the victims. The court heard the man had been reading through his ex-partner’s text messages and bank statements to monitor her activity and had inspected her underwear for semen.

Palmview man charged with rape of young woman

Premium Content A Sunshine Coast man has been arrested and charged after allegedly raping a young woman. A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the alleged offence happened between November 2020 and January 2021 at an address in Kuluin. The victim, a 19-year-old woman, reported the alleged incident to police in April. The QPS spokesman said a 19-year-old Palmview man handed himself into police on Friday, May 14 and was that day charged with rape. The accused is due to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 9.

Man accused of assaulting police officer at RSL faces court

Premium Content Subscriber only Two brothers who allegedly were involved in an altercation at Caloundra RSL which left a police officer seriously injured will return to court next month. Joseph Dean Keys, 23, is charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts of obstructing police, committing a public nuisance in a licenced venue and seriously assaulting a police officer while under the influence. His older brother, Jacob James Keys, 35, is charged with two counts of obstructing police and committing public nuisance within a licensed premise. Jacob James Keys fronted Maroochydore Magistrates Court over allegations he obstructed police during an incident at Caloundra RSL.
