On Wednesday, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Saltmine Highway in Breaux Bridge. Upon arrival, deputies located a man who had been shot in the facial area. The victim was transported to an area hospital for further medical treatment. An investigation regarding the shooting was initiated and it was determined the victim was involved in a disturbance with his sister, Mona Duhon, who allegedly shot the victim, Breaux stated.

Agents say that at around 2:00 p.m. on April 29 there was vessel on vessel collision in the Little Atchafalaya River about two miles south of boat launch. A 16 foot vessel had two people in it and both were ejected from the vessel into the water at the time of impact.

MARTINVILLE, La. — The St. Martin Parish Sheriff s Office has announced the creation of a Safe Exchange Zone in its parking lot where residents can make secure online purchase transactions or child custody exchanges. According to Sheriff Becket Breaux, the Safe Exchange Zone is located in the parking lot at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex, 4870 North Main Hwy., at the corner of Cypress Island Extension and North Main Hwy., in St. Martinville. Breaux says that upon arrival, residents just need to pull into one of the designated spots that are outlined in green and dial the number on the sign before conducting their transaction or exchange.
