“We attribute this enormous decrease to the strict implementation of ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine), MECQ (Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine), and now GCQ (General Community Quarantine) alongside our local government’s relentless efforts to do continuous contact tracing, RT-PCR swab testing, isolation, and treatment,” Zamora said.
Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan were placed under a bubble called the NCR Plus to mitigate the surge of COVID-19 cases.
Zamora said the city now has 19,004 of its residents already vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Our ongoing vaccination drive is a prime mover in our fight against COVID-19 and in protecting our people,” Zamora said.

IF plans push through, Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) teams could return to practices within the National Capital Region (NCR) beginning this week.
Following the government’s announcement last week that NCR and the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite and Laguna would revert under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) setup from May 15 to 31 from Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine, some teams began moves to have their practices held in Metro Manila.
Said teams have already applied for permission in various local government units (LGUs) their training venues are located to allow them to proceed.

“Here in San Juan, from 1,296 on April 12, it’s now down to 280 and this is really the effect of the ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine) and MECQ (Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine).” Zamora said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
The mayor said the Metro Manila Council (MMC) held a meeting yesterday to come up with a recommendation for the National Captial Region’s (NCR) next quarantine classification starting May 15.
