“Bukas magkakaroon po ng pulong ang MMC para malaman po natin yun pong magiging consensus ng mga mayor (Tomorrow, the MMC will have a meeting to know the consensus of the mayors),” MMC Chairman and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez told DZRH in an interview Tuesday.
Olivarez said he sees the easing of quarantine restrictions in Paranaque as possible, saying the city’s numbers have been improving.
The mayor added that the reproduction number in Paranaque is already less than one at 0.63.
The number of active cases and the hospital utilization rate in the city have also gone down.

The PBA will restore the salaries of players, coaches and staff in full on May 18 when teams are expected to begin holding 5-on-5 scrimmages in areas under General Community Quarantine.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial made that assurance even as he asked for the cooperation of the teams in order for the scrimmages to be successful.
Players, coaches and staff, including Marcial and PBA employees, are currently under a 20-percent salary deduction as part of measures to deal with the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Exempted from the ongoing paycut are those who are part of the utility.

Malacañang on Tuesday called on the public to remain vigilant after the Department of Health (DOH) reported two cases of the more transmissible B.1.617 coronavirus variant first detected in India. “We call on our fellow Filipinos, we know that if we do not take care of our lives, we will not be able to go back to work. That is why the President’s call is for us to take care, wear a mask, wash hands frequently, observe social distancing and get a COVID-19 vaccine,” Palace spokesperson Harry Roque said.

Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro on Tuesday pushed for the reopening of retail stores or small businesses as the national government is set to decide on the next quarantine conditions for the country this week.

“Yung mga palengke, kailangan talaga, maraming umaasa diyan na kabuhayan. Yung mga maliliit na tindahan tingin ko dapat buksan din ‘yan (We need to reopen the markets because many depend on them for their livelihood. The small stores, I think should be allowed to open as well),” Teodoro told DZRH when asked what kind of businesses should the government allow to open if it decides to further ease quarantine restrictions next week.
