Pasay City to comply with IATF decision on next quarantine status

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano (FACEBOOK/ MANILA BULLETIN) The National Capital Region and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal are currently under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) which will end on Friday, April 30. Rubiano said the IATF is set to make a decision on whether to extend the MECQ or downgrade to the General Community Quarantine (GCQ). “Handa po kaming sumunod pero ang importante po ay ang ating mga kababayan ay dapat mag-triple ingat pa rin at gawin ang standard health protocols anuman ang quarantine status,” (We are ready to follow but it is important that everybody must be cautious in observing the standard health protocols), Rubiano said.

Mayor Olivarez backs one-week extension of MECQ

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez (FACEBOOK/ MANILA BULLETIN) In an interview with DZMM, Olivarez, who is also chairman of the Metro Manila Council (MMC), said that after he met with the local task force in his city, they recommended a one-week MECQ extension before making another assessment. “Iyong two weeks, tingin ko po, sa akin po personal, masyado pong matagal po yan. Dapat po one week lang tapos magkaroon ng assessment muli para maibaba po natin ang quarantine sa General Community Quarantine (GCQ) (I think personally, two weeks are too long. One week should be enough, before we assess again if we could lower to GCQ),” he said.

PBA gives go signal to training bubbles in MGCQ areas

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said teams must secure the approval from concerned agencies like the Inter-Agency Task Force and the Joint Administrative Order, and also the local government unit where the training bubble is planned to be held. “Gusto naming makita yung mga protocols ng LGU, protocols niyo, pag-aaralan namin. Pag okay, pwede sila mag-practice (We want to see the protocols of the LGU, the protocol of the team before we approve the training bubble),” Marcial said in the virtual Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum held Tuesday, April 27.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial will be joined by San Miguel Corporation sports director and Barangay Ginebra team governor Alfrancis Chua in a scheduled meeting with Senator Bong Go and executive secretary Salvador Medialdea where they’ll discuss various topics relating to the league’s plans for the season to start following several delays. Marcial said during his appearance in the virtual Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum Tuesday, April 27, that among the discussions are the plans to vaccinate the whole PBA family, namely players, coaches and staff.

More community pantries open in Mandaluyong City

(Photos from Mandaluyong PIO / MANILA BULLETIN) On Sunday, April 25, the Kababaihan Kakaiba ng Mandaluyong (KKM), with the support of the Mandaluyong City local government, opened a number of community pantries in four barangays in District 1 to provide provisions to more people. The pantries are located in Barangay Addition Hills, Daang Bakal, Highway Hills, and Poblacion.
