JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reports the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state has risen to over 313,100.
MSDH reported 240 COVID-19 cases and two additional deaths on Friday, bringing the state total to 313,166 cases and 7,228 deaths.
Positive test results may have been made during the past several days and represent individuals who became ill a week ago or more.

State Health Officer Thomas Dobbs will join the Mississippi State Medical Association to give updates and answer physician questions related to COVID-19 in a livestream video 4 p.m. Friday.
The discussion comes one week after Gov. Tate Reeves signed a new executive order lifting all but one of his previous COVID-19 regulations that d been intact for over a year.
Masks are required inside school buildings and classrooms through the end of the 2020-2021 school year, according to Reeves recent order.
As of Friday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 240 new COVID-19 cases and two coronavirus-related deaths.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLOX) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reported a total of 240 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths on Friday.
For the six southernmost counties, there were a total of 40 new cases and no new deaths reported as of 3 p.m. the previous day.
The new cases were in Harrison County (18), Jackson County (7), Hancock County (7), Pearl River County (5), Stone County (2), and George County (1).

Since the virus hit the state in March 2020, a total of 313,166 cases and 7,228 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported.
According to a New York Times database Friday, at least 818 new coronavirus deaths and 47,325 new cases were reported in the U.S. on Thursday. Over the past week, there has been an average of 45,081 cases per day, a decrease of 27% from the average two weeks earlier.
