April 2020 saw the city s worst surge of homicides for the year, and this month is up to three in the first week. The latest was a man shot Wednesday morning in the 100 block of West 23rd Street, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Police are looking for a dark four-door sedan possibly involved. Multiple 911 calls led officers to respond to the area about 11 a.m., Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said. There they found the victim, 30 to 35 years old, lying on a sidewalk near North Laura Street with multiple gunshot wounds. There was possibly a car in the area, seen twice, Rudlaff said. The gunfire was in the street, we can only assume possibly from the car, but we can t be sure if they exited the vehicle.
