Saleh: Peace Without Dignity is Unacceptable
First Vice President Amrullah Saleh spoke at a gathering in Kabul on Thursday and said that the Afghan government “will not ignore the sovereignty of the people in the peace process.”
Saleh also said: We will never ignore our achievements, if we ignored them, peace would come tomorrow. The leadership should be determined by the people, not the Quetta Shura and other shuras.” Peace without dignity is not acceptable and has not been accepted by any nation, he added.
On Wednesday, the High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) said that the meeting of the leadership committee of the council would be convened in the near future where it will clarify its main demands for the agenda of the peace negotiations.
Rasheeds’s Family Calls on Intl Community to Probe Murder
The family of Yousuf Rasheed, CEO of the Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA), who was killed in Kabul by unknown gunmen on Wednesday, has called on the international community and human rights defending organizations to help probe the attack on him and ensure that justice is served on the perpetrators.
Rasheed’s friends and family members have said that they cannot trust the government of Afghanistan to probe his assassination.
Rasheed’s brother said that he worked tirelessly for the rights of the people and democracy in Afghanistan and democratic values.

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Christopher Miller, U.S. acting Secretary of Defense at the Presidential Palace, late on Tuesday.
In the meeting that was also attended by First Vice-President Amrullah Saleh, both sides discussed the Afghan peace process, the current situation of Afghanistan and the region and to further support the Afghan security and defense forces.
Christopher Miller stressed on strengthening the strategic relationship between Afghanistan and the United States, said that United States stands with the Government and people of Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism.
MPs Suggest Govt Review Security Strategy for Kabul
Lawmakers in Afghanistan’s parliament on Wednesday said that the citizens in Kabul are now fade up with the fragile security situation in Kabul, suggesting President Ashraf Ghani review the security strategy.
Meanwhile, some other lawmakers said that the failure of First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, who took personal control of Kabul s security two months ago and interfered with the security institutions, is the one of the fundamental factors behind the growing security threats in the capital city.
Lawmakers said that every morning the Afghans wake up with the news of explosions and murders.

Kabul (BNA) First Vice-President Amrullah Saleh said yesterday that vehicles with Wolesi Jirga written on their number plates should be stopped with immediate effect.
VP Saleh, who is also in charge of Kabul security, said in his yesterday 6:30 am report at that least 155 vehicles had received such plates from the Ministry of Interior. He wrote on his Facebook Page that there was information the Taliban and Islamic State (locally known as Daesh) might get fake plates and would create a disaster.
VP Saleh asked members of parliament not to travel in vehicles having number plate of Wolesi Jirga.
