Over the past two weeks, there s been a welcomed change to the Idaho Coronavirus resource page. Rather than the rising case numbers as the first numbers on the page, you re seeing how many of vaccine doses have been administered throughout the state.
Unfortunately, right below that, you re still seeing rather high case numbers statewide. Our health care workers, especially those working with respiratory patients, are exhausted. Mary, a respiratory therapist at St. Luke s, is one of those people and her mom, Lynn, worries about not just her physical health, but mental well being as well.
With the hospital short staffed at times, Mary s stepping up above and beyond her scheduled shifts to help her co-workers feel less overwhelmed. When she does get time off, she doesn t miss a beat stepping back into the role of wife and mom to two little ones.
LITE-FM s Christmas Wish is back, thanks to our friends at Pioneer Federal Credit Union.
Every single Christmas Wish nomination that we receives leaves a footprint on our hearts, but this one is really tough. Boise has a really beautiful running community and it turns out we have some mutual friends with Jenny. That s why we were surprised when we saw her son Blake s nomination for her come across the Christmas Wish team s desk.
We knew Jenny as an ultramarathoner who celebrated beating colon cancer by running 100 miles. She was declared cancer free years ago, but last winter she noticed that she was something just didn t seem right while she was running. She felt like she wasn t getting enough air into her lungs and asked her doctor about it. He dismissed it as asthma. Runners are incredibly in tune with their bodies and Jenny knew that it wasn t asthma.

Being a single mom of three kids under five is tough enough as it is. Shamai s working two jobs trying to keep her little family a float and things for them haven t been easy. She lost her mom to cancer a little over a year ago and is heart broken that her mom never had the chance to meet Shamai s youngest child.
Cancer struck the family again when Shamai s middle child, her son Brazen, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. He s been going through chemo and radiation treatments, but she very recently found out that they may not be effective in saving her little boy s life. In the coming days, she ll have to make some difficult decisions about his course of treatment.

Felicita s story will make you hug your loved ones a little bit tighter and realize how truly precious life is. Just a few days ago, she lost her 21 year old son in a car accident. Prior to the accident, David was excited to dive head first into his role as a new dad to Gabriella.
The news devastated the family and now, instead of shopping for Christmas gifts they re worrying about funeral expenses. Throughout this dark time for their family, Felicita said the one ray of light they have is her grandbaby. She says when she looks at Gabriella, she can see David in her and is so excited to play a role in raising this baby girl.
There are a lot of renters in the Treasure Valley, including most of the LITE-FM on-air staff. Not many of us can say that we re personal friends with our landlords or rental companies, but that s not the case for Nic. His landlady, Sue, is also their neighbor and his family has been proud to consider her a friend for 10 years.
Sue s always been very kind to her tenants and they know that she s experienced some pretty scary health issues over the decade that Nic s lived next door. He know that her own home needs repairs, but she s on a fixed income after having to retire early from her job in healthcare. She lives alone with her two cats and Nic asked us to put together a Christmas Wish that would make her feel blessed and appreciated the same way he and his family does by her kindness.
