UPDATE:What was thought to be a road-rage incident in Rutherford County this past weekend, was actually a targeted crime.
One suspect was charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot a La Vergne woman Saturday on Interstate 24, Rutherford County Sheriff’s detectives said Monday.
Eye-witness Carl Bauer told WGNS NEWS.
The suspect allegedly fired upon the victim from the window of a Cadillac.
As for the victim, Detective Joseph Duncan said that 19-Year old Rickiya Compton was listed in critical but stable condition Monday. Duncan, who is with the Rutherford County Sheriff s Office, is the lead investigator.

A murder that took place on January 16, 1980 remains unsolved and detectives are trying to figure out who had a motive to kill a recently retired Christiana postmaster.
That was retired Rutherford County Assistant District Attorney J. Paul Newman.
70-Year old Fred Wiggs was found dead at his home - - the same home that he grew up in and lived in his entire life. The house was just two miles away from the post office, where he worked as the assistant postmaster.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVF) â Moments after shots are fired on a busy interstate, an off-duty firefighter and his daughter rush to help the victim.
Captain Brad Petty was driving on I-24 East in Rutherford County Saturday afternoon with his family, heading home from his sonâs wrestling tournament in Lebanon. As he approached the I-840 exit, he noticed a man on the side of the road jumping up and down and appearing to be in distress.
