Local railroad incidents over the past 10 years, not counting Thursday’s death, include:
10 in Crow Wing County with two resulting in death. One person died in 2014 and the other in 2018.
10 in Cass County, with one fatal in 2019.
Seven in Morrison County, but none resulted in death.
Two in Aitkin County, but neither were fatal.
Four in Wadena County, but none were fatal.
Eight in Todd County, with one fatal in 2013.
In the entire state since 2012, there have been 1,848 incidents involving people injured on a railroad and 93 of them were fatal.

PEQUOT LAKES, Minn. Human remains found in a heavily wooded area in Cass County have been identified as a Ham Lake, Minn., man missing since 2018.
On Monday, June 7, the Cass County Sheriff s Office received a report that a survey crew had found human remains in a wooded area of Blind Lake Township, according to Sheriff Tom Burch. The remains were collected and taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for examination.
On Wednesday, June 16, the remains were positively identified as those belonging to David Rickbeil, age 62, of Ham Lake. Rickbeil had been missing for nearly three years.
