Apple Valley man arrested after threatening to kill AutoZone employees

Authorities arrested a 27-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed a jug of motor oil and threatened to kill three employees at an AutoZone in Apple Valley.
Broderic Michael Capps, of Apple Valley, was being held at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $51,000 bail and is expected to appear in a Victorville courtroom Thursday if charged by prosecutors.
San Bernardino County Sheriff s Department deputies arrested Capps two days after receiving a report of a person threatening employees at the business, located at 20158 Highway 18, on May 2 just before 1:30 p.m.
Flores Fire in Summit Valley north of Silverwood Lake held to 27 acres

Firefighting crews held a wildfire to about 27 acres after it broke out Monday in the Summit Valley of Hesperia and north of Silverwood Lake, authorities said.
Smoke could be seen in parts of Hesperia and Oak Hills as multiple agencies responded by air and ground to the vegetation fire dubbed the Flores Fire reported just before noon near Highway 173 and Las Flores Road, according to the Cal Fire Twitter account.
San Bernardino County Fire and U.S. Forest Service firefighters helped with the blaze. The crews stopped its forward spread at about 2 p.m.

Chayce Beckham moved his mother, and many “American Idol” viewers, to tears with his heartfelt tribute song, “Mama,” which helped him advance into the show s Top 5 on Sunday.
Voters nationwide texted their approval after the Apple Valley singer-songwriter serenaded his mother, Windie Petersen, and performed a rendition of Coldplay s “Magic” during the Mother’s Day- and Coldplay-themed episode on ABC.
Like Beckham, the six other remaining “Idol” contestants sang Coldplay hits, as well as songs dedicated to their mothers. The popular band also performed their single “Higher Power,” which was released on Friday. Mama

New administrators bring decades of experience to Adelanto Elementary School District

The Adelanto Elementary School District Board of Trustees has announced the hiring of two new school administrators with over 50 years of combined experience in education.
AESD will soon welcome Dr. Tasha Doizan, who’ll serve as assistant superintendent for academic services and Carlos Moran, who’ll fill the role as assistant superintendent for human resource services, according to an AESD press release.
Moran, whose first day is scheduled for May 24, will replace Andrea Credille, who announced her retirement in June after a 30-year career in education, district officials said.
