Barstow Community Hospital to hold one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic Friday Barstow Community Hospital is scheduled to offer another free drive-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic by appointment only. At the clinic, hospital nurses will provide the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the hospital’s east parking lot, 820 E. Mountain View Street. The hospital has been allocated a limited number of vaccines for area residents who are 18 years of age or older, so appointments are issued on a first-come, first-served basis, officials said. Those seeking the COVID-19 vaccination should enter the BCH campus at the Mountain View Street entrance and proceed to follow the driveway around to the back of the hospital.

The rally s hosts include Miranda Gabaldon and Tyler Johnson, youth members of the High Desert Community Coalition, as well as Hannah Esparza, a youth member of the Adelanto Coalition. The rally is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday and will be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube. Speakers will share how they cope with stress, who they follow as positive role models and encourage others to join them in practicing healthy-living habits, according to IPS Program Manager Sarah Boyer.

Apple Valley detectives nab alleged dognapper, reunite Yorkie with his family Victorville Daily Press A dog named Max is back home and 48-year-old Felipe DeJesus Aguirrecordero is out on bail after allegedly stealing the miniature Yorkshire Terrier in Apple Valley, authorities said.  The Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station received the report of a missing pooch on April 22.  Sheriff Service Specialist Courtney Rodriguez learned the suspect, later identified as Aguirrecordero, asked Max s owner if he could purchase him while at a “celebration of life” in the 12000 block of Indian River Drive in Apple Valley.  A few days later, Max went missing, and the dog s owner learned that Aguirrecordero had recently given his daughter a miniature Yorkie.

Traffic pursuit ends after driver nearly misses tree in Apple Valley Victorville Daily Press An attempted traffic stop led to a traffic pursuit through Apple Valley that ended with the arrest of 32-year-old Mark James Jenkins, authorities reported. The Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that at 9:04 a.m. Friday, Dep. Brent Faylor tried to stop a vehicle with no rear license plate near the intersection of Seneca and Rincon roads. At that time, the driver, later identified as Jenkins, of Apple Valley, failed to yield and a two-mile pursuit began through residential neighborhoods, with the car reaching speeds of 70 mph.
