ELKINS A Randolph County woman is facing a felony charge after her 4-year-old son was reported missing Wednesday.
Amanda Pingley, 24, was charged with child neglect causing serious risk of injury. She is currently being held in the Tygarts Valley Regional Jail on a $35,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Ben Shepler.
According to the criminal complaint, the Elkins Police Department and other agencies were called to Pingley’s house at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Once on the scene, EPD Patrolman K.A. Shiflett was told by Pingley that her son had been missing for approximately 15 minutes, the complaint states. She said the boy was last seen wearing a black Mickey Mouse shirt, and that he weighed approximately 11 pounds. She also told police the boy would be with a white dog with a brown spot.

A Florida man was arrested Saturday after allegedly kidnapping a woman in Randolph County, leading law enforcement on a multi-county chase and firing at officers.
At approximately 1:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon Manuel Jesus Robles, 32, of Ocala, Florida, allegedly kidnapped a 31-year-old woman at gunpoint on Coleridge Road in Asheboro, according to information provided by the Asheboro Police Department. The suspect forced the victim into a vehicle owned by the victim, which had been stolen earlier, and left the scene.

Upon arrival, three subjects at the residence had sustained gunshot wounds. Robert Lewis Spencer, 27 years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other subjects were transported to nearby trauma hospitals.
On April 4, 2021, Jessie Jaquan Pratt, who was shot during the incident on Plummer Street, was released from the hospital and taken into custody. According to the Randolph County Sheriff Office, further investigation of the shooting resulted in Pratt’s arrest for Felony First Degree Murder.
He is confined at the Randolph County Detention Center without bond. His first appearance in Randolph County District Court is scheduled for Monday, April 5, 2021

ELKINS A local business is helping bring a K9 officer to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office through donations.
Judy Ritchie of Clayton Homes of Elkins recently presented a personal check for $250 and a matching check from the company to Corporal E.B. Carr of the Sheriff’s Office.
Last month, the Randolph County Commission approved the purchase of a K9 officer by the Sheriff’s Office, and agreed to contribute $12,500 toward the purchase.
