2 hurt in multi-agency chase ending in fiery crash

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the Wedowee Police Department were all involved in a chase on Saturday, May 8, 2021. The chase ended in Wedowee, Alabama, with two people hurt. Authorities said the chase started in Cusseta, in Chambers County, with deputies there attempting to pull over a red and black 2020 Dodge Challenger. When the driver refused to stop, the pursuit began. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle somewhere in the Welch community. Photo: Paul Mitchell. A deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office later spotted the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near 431 Fuel Connection. Sheriff David Cofield said the deputy gave chase to the vehicle from there.

Law Log: Multiple people charged with strangulation

The Asheboro Police Department arrested the following people on felony charges.  Antuan Delvon Tanner, 46, of Asheboro, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, three counts failure to appear on misdemeanor and two counts of failure to appear on felony. Roger Dale Dixon, 34, of Asheboro, was charged with felony first-degree kidnapping. Dakota Lee Younger, 21, of Asheboro, was charged with felony statutory sex offense with child less than 15, felony statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and felony indecent liberties with a child. Maliek Rashood Blankenship, 19, of Randleman, was charged with felony possession of marijuana, misdemeanor concealing a firearm and failure to burn headlamps.

A 3-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car at a home in Asheboro. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was hit Thursday afternoon at the home on Miles Moffitt Road. Investigators said a young, unlicensed driver was moving a vehicle in the driveway and accidentally hit the girl. The driver pinned the girl between the vehicle and the house, according to deputies.

Asheboro child accidentally injured by moving vehicle

Around midnight on Friday, a 3-year-old girl died after being hit by a vehicle.  On Thursday, April 29, 2021, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Miles Moffitt Road, Asheboro, regarding a reported incident in which a 3-year-old child was accidentally injured when a young, unlicensed driver was moving a vehicle in the yard. The vehicle made contact with the child and eventually came to a stop hitting the residence, causing structural damage, according to a news release from the sheriff s office. The child became pinned between the vehicle and the house, deputies said.
