EAST GREENWICH â Town Council Vice President Michael Donegan believes Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha may intervene in the debate over a proposed medical waste facility center.Â
Two weeks ago, in a letter addressed to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM), the attorney general raised ânumerous procedural and substantive concernsâ about the medical waste facility hoping to move into an office park on the border of West Warwick and East Greenwich. He requested DEM halt its review of MedRecyclerâs license application âuntil the proper technology analysis is conducted and all required certifications are obtained.â

Get your fishing gear ready because the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has announced that Saturday and Sunday are Free Fishing Days across the state.
“Freshwater fishing is an important part of our culture and economy in Rhode Island, and DEM is proud to support it through our stocking program,” DEM Director Janet Coit noted in a press release.
“After the year we’ve all had, I sure hope anglers will have some fun catching the beautiful hatchery-raised trout and salmon stocked in fishing areas across the state,” Coit added. “We encourage people of all ages to visit a favorite fishing spot on free fishing weekend and make some new memories.”

Several employees at a medical manufacturing facility in Rhode Island were exposed to some sort of chemical irritant and transported to a hospital for treatment Thursday afternoon. It seems to be contained to the facility itself, a spokesperson for the Pawtucket Police Department told Fox News. We re not sure exactly what the employees were exposed to, but we think it was some type of irritant.
Pawtucket’s acting public safety director, Chief Tina Goncalves, told WPRI that authorities were initially called to the scene and determined that an odor or smell in the air had caused [an employee] difficulty breathing.

The sharks are back roaming along the Cape shoreline.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy on Thursday reported its first basking shark sighting off Provincetown’s Herring Cove Beach this season.
Although great white shark sightings are increasing every year along the Cape, they are not the only large shark off the Massachusetts coast.
The basking shark is the second largest fish in the ocean, and is often confused with white sharks, especially as their large dorsal fin often can be seen above the water.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) - A Rhode Island man had a frightening encounter with a wild animal in a public park.
He came face-to-face with a coyote that he says blocked his path for nearly a half-hour. Daniel Torres caught it all on video.
He said he took out his phone to record the scary situation he found himself in Tuesday, thinking people might not believe it without evidence.
