COURT AMENDS CHARGES IN CASE OF ODESSA MAN FACING MULTIPLE DRUG RELATED FELONIES

A 31-year-old Odessa man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in October. According to a probable-cause statement, on October 21, 2020, a law-enforcement officer located a THC pen; a loaded clear glass pipe that later tested positive for methamphetamine; 45 clonazepam and seven oxycodone pills; a small digital scale; and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun when they searched the vehicle. Court documents say Zackary Jacob Stewart is charged with five counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and a drug-related misdemeanor. On December 21, the court reduced the original $10,000 cash only bond to $5,000 cash or surety. Steward posted $5,000 surety bond on January 19.

ONE OF THREE CHARGED IN KIDNAPPING CASE DUE IN COURT ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1

One of three men accused of multiple felonies, including kidnapping, nearly three years years ago is scheduled to have a court proceeding on Monday, February 1. According to a probable-cause statement, on April 26, 2018, authorities arrived at the scene of the reported kidnapping at the Super 8 Motel in Higginsville and arrested the three men, who allegedly held two females against their will; raped and assaulted them; and demanded ransom money. Jaciel Acdala Mendez-Morales, who is now 21 years old, 25-year-old Alain Gaspar Camarillo-Linan and 24-year-old Luis Angel Sierra-Vallina have been charged. Mendez-Morales and Sierra-Vallina are being held on $500,000 and Camarillo-Linan on $750,000 cash-only bond at the Lafayette County Jail.

INDEPENDENCE WOMAN FACING DRUG CHARGES REMAINS IN CUSTODY

Following a traffic stop on August 16, a drug-related felony charge has been filed against a 50-year-old Independence woman. According to a Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy’s report, he located multiple drug-related items inside the vehicle- including multiple baggies of methamphetamine, as well as digital scales and other drug-related items. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only, and Tammy Lee Stauffer has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a drug-related misdemeanor. Stauffer entered a plea of not guilty during her arraignment hearing on September 17. The court denied Stauffer’s Motion for Bond Reduction on January 19. A Motion for Change of Venue was not taken up at that court proceeding. A Plea/Trial Setting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, February 1 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.

CORDER MAN FACING FELONY CHARGES AFTER REPORTED DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE INVOLVING FIREARM

Bond has been set at six figures for a 43-year-old Corder man who has been charged with multiple felonies after a reported incident on Sunday, January 24. A probable-cause statement says authorities were dispatched to the report of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm on Pettyville Road in Corder. Kevin Manning is alleged to have fired multiple rounds from a rifle into an excavator and shot a bullet through the windshield of a truck. He also allegedly attacked a man and shoved him to the ground, causing an injury to the man; and crashed a UTV into a garage. Court documents say Manning is charged with Class B Felonies for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Discharging or Shooting a Firearm at or from a Motor Vehicle, Shooting at a Person, Motor Vehicle or Habitable Building or Structure- Persistent Offender; a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; and a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting. Bond is set at $150,000 cash only.

ODESSA MAN FACING FELONY CHARGE AFTER ALLEGED HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT

A 27-year-old Odessa man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly led multiple law-enforcement officers on a high-speed chase on multiple roadways in Lafayette County on January 21. According to a report from a Lafayette County deputy, the pursuit lasted for several minutes as the driver of the vehicle sped away from an attempted traffic stop. The suspect vehicle reached speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour on rural routes and county roads. Eventually, the suspect pulled the vehicle into a gas station and stopped. The driver exited the passenger’s side and went to the ground. Jeramy Andrew Sisk was taken into custody.
