A man charged in connection to a suspected stabbing in Longford last month has this evening been granted bail.
The man, who is aged in his 30s and from the Mullingar area, was brought before a special sitting of Longford District Court this evening.
He was charged with allegedly carrying out an assault on another man in the Glebe View area of Longford town on April 16 last which resulted in the victim sustaining a number of slash sounds to his left leg.

A court has heard details of how a Lithuanian man was allegedly flown into Ireland by an organised crime gang to cultivate cannabis );

A Lithuanian man allegedly found with over €50,000 worth of cannabis plants was specifically flown into the country by an organised gang to cultivate the drug, a court has heard.
Erikas Korsakas (22), Mullagh, Coole, Co Westmeath was remanded in custody by Judge Seamus Hughes after appearing before a recent district court sitting.
Criminal damage charges struck out in Longford court

A man and a woman have had a criminal damage charge against them struck out following last week’s sitting of Longford District Court.
Sarah Stokes and Francis Stokes, both of Corboy, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, were initially charged in connection with a criminal damage incident causing €1,000 worth of damage to a house in Longford town last August.
Those charges were withdrawn last week. );

Six children from Longford family taken into care

Judge Seamus Hughes has given a Longford family three months to vacate a home they had been renting while also sanctioning six of the household s children to be taken into care.
Both orders were granted at a recent sitting of Longford District Court on foot of separate applications being made by the landlord and Child and Family Agency.
The court also heard how the mother of the family was currently in custody, serving a sentence for shoplifting.
One of the children was also in court in connection to a separate matter after gardaí raised concerns as to his whereabouts with Sgt Enda Daly revealing the teenager had committed 21 breaches of a court imposed curfew.
