Public health officials working with SLC schools, hospitals on Pfizer vaccine for adolescents

Tuesday, May 11, 2021 - 6:18 am BY ANDY GARDNER North Country This Week CANTON – St. Lawrence County Public Health is working with hospitals and schools to ensure the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine is available to adolescents. County Public Health Director Jolene Munger and Board of Health President Dr. Andrew Williams discussed the new development with the Board of Legislators during a Monday, May 10 Operations Committee meeting. The FDA earlier that day approved the Pfizer vaccine for ages 12 to 15. “We are working with our hospitals and superintendents to provide Pfizer to our adolescents,” Munger told the legislators. “We’re working with all of the hospitals to be able to have all the vaccinators with the HD to provide Pfizer . we’re working with the state to get Pfizer and CPH has ultra cold storage. We can store it at the hospital and thaw it as needed for all the different clinics we are planning.”

St Lawrence County lawmakers approve recruitment contract for public health director search

CANTON â One month after the official resignation date of St. Lawrence County Public Health Director Dana O. McGuire, county lawmakers unanimously passed a resolution to contract with a recruiting agency to find a replacement. The resolution, presented during a special county Board of Legislators meeting Monday night, authorizes Chairman William J. Sheridan to sign a contract with Axelon Services Corporation and modify the 2021 budget to reflect a contract expense of up to $24,117. The funds are being sourced from the countyâs contingency account. The contract cost may total between $19,587 and $24,117, based on the salary awarded to the successful director candidate, according to the resolution. The salary range is set at $97,933 to $120,581.

Seven new cases of COVID-19 reported in St Lawrence County Friday

Friday, April 23, 2021 - 5:42 pm Seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported to St. Lawrence County Public Health today (Friday, April 23), bringing the total number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases to-date to 7,093.
