Concern Raised Over The Future Of NOSM

Kenora, ON, Canada / 89.5 The Lake Apr 8, 2021 7:03 AM A former Thunder Bay mayor and Liberal MP wants the provincial government to act to secure the future of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Ken Boshcoff suggest the financial problems at Laurentian University in Sudbury might have a ripple effect on the medical school at the Lakehead University campus. “This is kind of the first appeal for provincial intervention to ensure we that continue supply physicians for Ontario, not just northern Ontario,” states Boshcoff. He wants a guarantee the medical school will be safe in future years. “The impacts that may affect the campuses both in Sudbury and Thunder Bay are really tentative right now, so we’re asking for some interventions, in a rather hurried nature, from the provincial legislature.”
