No vehicle was at the scene in the 5500 block of Wolfgang School Road in Manheim Township at Codorus State Park when Northern York County Regional Police arrived there just before 3 a.m. Through interviews, police learned the pair had been attending a party down the street before the incident occurred.
Police said 19-year-old Elijah Winbourne, of Hanover, was pulling the unidentified pair on the box spring/mattress set by a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado. The mattress and box spring were attached to the truck by a chain.
The man and woman flew off the mattress while Winbourne was negotiating a curve. The driver fled the scene, police said, and returned to the party, where police say the box spring and mattress were thrown into a bonfire.

Two partygoers were flown to WellSpan York Hospital with injuries after they fell off a mattress being pulled by a pickup truck, police said.
Northern York County Regional responded to reports of a crash at 2:54 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of Wolfgang School Road in Manheim Township.
Upon showing up, police found a 26-year-old woman from Glen Rock with a major head injury and a 24-year-old man, also of Glen Rock, with a severe leg injury, according to police.
There were no cars at the scene, and police were instead directed to the 6200 block of Wolfgang School Road, where a party had occurred, police said.

GLEN ROCK, Pa. Northern York County Regional Police are investigating after two people suffered severe injuries at a party in Manheim Tonwship early Sunday morning.
Police say the victims, a 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Glen Rock, were injured along the 5500 block of Wolfgang School Road at about 2:54 a.m.
They were allegedly riding a box spring and mattress set attached to a pickup truck by a chain, police say. The truck was dragging them as they rode, and both victims fell off the mattress when the truck negotiated a curve on the road, according to police.

A prostitute accused of trying to blackmail the Pennsylvania Bar Association president with a recording of them having sex is also accused of setting up a would-be sex customer to be robbed at gunpoint in a York County motel.
Emily Ann Merth, 25, who is currently being held in Allentown s Lehigh County Prison, is awaiting arraignment on her Luzerne County charges of sexual extortion, theft by extortion and promoting prostitution, according to court records. All three offenses are misdemeanors.
Luzerne County attorney David Schwager, 58, of Kingston, will be charged with the third-degree misdemeanor of patronizing a prostitute. He has not yet been arraigned, court records state. That will likely happen at the time of his preliminary hearing, scheduled for June 15.
