Boeing 777X Significant Orders Now Unpredictable

MIAMI – Boeing reported on Monday that 118 of its wide-body 777X order was no longer firm under accounting regulations. Therefore, Boeing has to determine its feasibility regularly, which left the company with only 191 finalized orders for the 777X. Boeing revealed last week a US$6.5bn charge on the 777X, partially due to the weakest-than-expected demand for the model. IL-62 Returns Cargo Traffic to Debrecen (+Photos)

LONDON – Last Friday, Airways was present at Debrecen Airport (DEB) where an Ilyushin IL-62 landed, resuming cargo traffic at the airport. Rada Airlines’ (RDA) IL-62 landed at DEB, following a flight from Dubai Al Maktoum (DWC) carrying automotive parts. Debrecen Airport is located just 5 kilometres from the center of Hungary’s second-largest city. In addition to Debrecen, it serves Oradea and Satu Mare in Romania and Nyíregyháza in Hungary. According to Free Map Tools, 4 million people live in a 120-kilometre radius of DEB. After its opening in 1930, DEB handled mail and domestic traffic. Following World War II, Soviet forces used DEB as an airbase until the end of socialism in 1990. In the early 2000s, the city started improving at the airport. DEB saw mostly charter traffic in addition to short-lived scheduled services.

Air Belgium Plans to Add Four Cargo Aircraft

LONDON – Brussels, Charleroi Airport (CRL)–based airline Air Belgium (KF) will expand its operations on its cargo sector with four A330-200F aircraft. During last summer, airline officials announced thoughts about diversification of operations as well as the opportunities of freight sector. Finally, the Belgian carrier announced the addition of four (4) freighter aircraft to its fleet, the first two will join the fleet from next March. At the begging, KF will operate four A330-200F from Qatar Airways (QR), which they will be based on Liège Airport (LGG). At the same time KF will remain to provide passenger flight to the French West Indies from its base on Brussels – Charleroi Airport (CRL). 

Uganda Airlines Takes Delivery of Second A330neo

ENTEBBE UGANDA – Uganda Airlines (UR) has taken delivery of its second Airbus A330-800, completing the Ugandan national carrier’s order of two A330neo. This latest addition follows a previous one, made in December 2020, for its first A330neo. According to UR, the delivery is an affirmation of its ambition to start long haul operation. The carrier believes that this wide-body pair will serve UR’s expansion of it international network. Rome Airports Unveil Results from COVID-19-tested Flights

MIAMI – Airports Council International (ACI) Europe presented today the results of the COVID-19 test pilot program, conducted at Rome-Fiumicino Airport, and operated by Aeroporti di Roma (ADR). The trials have been taking place since December 8, 2020 with the joint participation of Alitalia (AZ), and Delta Air Lines (DL), both members of the Skyteam global traveller alliance. Also, Italian and US Authorities have provided support.
