MIAMI – Amaszonas Uruguay (UR), the flag carrier of the South American country, has suspended passenger operations.
Confirming the suspension of passenger services, the carrier announced that it will begin “a process of approach and negotiation with different actors.”
Amaszonas will have to deal with “the main suppliers, the reconfiguration and reduction of the workforce, optimization of the use and destination of the Embraer E190, and other strategic measures.”
Potential Reinvention
“Unfortunately, today the operation in Uruguay has become very complex and complicated,” said Sergio León, the general manager of UR before continuing “we will have to reinvent ourselves in other modes of transport and air work if these are possible.”
MIAMI – Today, Tampa International Airport (TPA) is set to have around 200 private jets and two special Boeing 777-200s parked at the airport during the Super Bowl. According to a TPA tweet, the post Super Bowl departures push will for a moment make it the busiest airport in the US, “if not the world.”
Yesterday, TPA welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs and Super Bowl Champs to Tampa. Two United Airlines (UA) Boeing 777-200 aircraft carrying team members arrive about 5:00 pm EST at TPA from a snowy Kansas City, Missouri.

Super Bowl LV during COVID-19
In contrast to previous Super Bowls, t he team remained in Kansas City for an additional week because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. It makes this game, without the usual pre-Super Bowl media spectacle, a little closer to a regular-season away game.
MIAMI – Venezuela-based Laser Airlines (QL) has applied for authority to begin US flights. Specifically, the airline plans to launch flights from Caracas (CCS), Valencia (VLN), and Maracaibo (MAR) in Venezuela to Miami, Florida (MIA).
In October 2011, QL applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) in hopes of gaining permission to operate flights between Venezuela and the United States. The carrier originally applied to serve Fort Lauderdale (FLL) from Caracas with scheduled passenger flights. Additionally, QL applied to operate charter flights from Valencia (VLN) and Margarita Island (PMV) to FLL. However, the DOT never responded to QL’s initial application.
Significant Latin American, Caribbean Growth
American Airlines is also increasing capacity on numerous routes from Miami to the Caribbean and Latin America. With the transition of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into the airline’s MIA hub, AA has announced more 787-8 destinations. Later this year, cities such as Bogotá (BOG), Medellín (MDE), Cali (CLO), Quito (UIO), and more will see AA’s Boeing 787s.
Overall, flights from Miami to Latin America and the Caribbean this summer will have 16% more capacity compared to 2019 levels. Capacity in Colombia and Peru doubles, Ecuador increases by 50%, and Central America in total increases by 24%.

LONDON – Air Serbia (JU) increased its market share at Belgrade Airport (BEG) in January 2021, carrying a total of 53.1% of passengers at BEG in the first month of this year.
According to the company, from just a 38.4% share in the market in January 2019, JU has, in just two years, increased its share by almost 15 percentage points in relation to the total number of passengers carried to/from BEG. In January 2020, JU’s market share at BEG was 42%.
