The 1000th Boeing 787 Dreamliner that’s registered PK-CLC made its first flight, before it was delivered to SQ. Still it remains on the ground at Boeing’s factory on the field, yet to be delivered.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is one of the most modern jets in the world, since its release in 2009. Its greatest feat is the unmatched fuel efficiency. The type has however had many engineering related issues since production. With its advanced technologies and low fuel burn, it is said that with the Dreamliner, Boeing was “too early for its time.”

MIAMI – As is traditional, the Super Bowl LV will have a US Air Force flyover before the game starts. This year, for the first time ever, this flyover will be lead by a woman. As a female airline Pilot, this story really tickles my fancy so I couldn’t wait to write about it!
This woman is one of only 10 of the US Air Force’s B-2 Pilots. Her name is Captain Sarah Kociuba and her history is nothing less than impressive. She is a flight instructor on the B-2 and has flown over 90 combat missions.
Kociuba says to be humbled by the honor of leading the flyover and her mission is to inspire more girls and boys to become Pilots. I bow to you, Captain Kociuba!
MIAMI – The financial troubles affecting SAA (SA) forced it to discontinue its Perth-Johannesburg service, leaving it open for Qantas Airways’ (QF) to step in.
Qantas Airways’ plans to fly a Perth (PER) to Johannesburg (JNB) route were abandoned in 2018 over a still ongoing disagreement with Perth Airport Authorities on which terminal QF should use.
The Airport wanted QF to use the T1 international terminal while QF wished to run the flights from the newly developed international wing of its T3-T4 domestic terminal, also used for Boeing 787 flights to London an Boeing 737 flights to Singapore.
By using the new terminal, QF would have skipped the necessity to tow the aircraft between terminals T1 and T3, a procedure deemed “logistically not OK” whenever an aircraft has to shift from an international to a domestic service.
