So far, five patients ‘ended’ their lives in Vizag in the last two months
A 28-year-old man, who was undergoing treatment for COVID-19, reportedly ended his life by jumping from the third floor of the CSR Block of King George Hospital (KGH) here on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Vanthala Ramesh, a resident of Araku mandal.
According to the police, Ramesh had been undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the last few days. The reasons for him to take the drastic step are not yet known. A case was registered and investigation is on. Those who are in distress can contact the police helpline No. 100.

V. Sudhakar (45) from Sujatha Nagar, who was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), has allegedly ended life by jumping from a window on the third floor of the hospital on Saturday afternoon. This is said to be fourth such incident in city.
This is the first alleged COVID-19 suicide reported at the VIMS. Sudhakar was admitted to VIMS on May 20 and was put on ventilator. He was an employee of the steel plant.

District Collector V. Vinay Chand warned that negligence in COVID-19 treatment will not be tolerated. Doctors and other staff of the hospital should be available at the wards and constantly monitor the health condition of the patients. He was speaking during a review meet organised at the Collectorate with the superintendents of various hospitals and other health staff.
