I don t know about you, but
math makes my head hurt. It s even worse when you re trying to do your own taxes. Which form do I use? If you re married is it better to file separately or jointly? What about all of the tax deductions? It s probably best to get some help from someone who understands all of the ins and outs of filing a tax return. It s even better when that person is volunteering to help you for free.
You could get your taxes done by one of the many fine professional tax preparers around the Cedar Valley, but sometimes, that can get a little expensive. Some people try to do their taxes on-line, but what if you don t fully know what you re doing, and you end up costing yourself money? Along with that, you end up asking yourself, is this website reputable and many times there is also hidden fees. Here s a great alternative that I found for getting your taxes done, and it s FREE.
The start of the Lenten journey for most Christians is just a week away.
And, for many, it will start with Ash Wednesday services that will look a lot different amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some churches like the Episcopal Church of the Saviour handed out Ash Wednesday kits for parishioners to apply their own ashes while watching an online service that will broadcast next week.
Others like the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron will forgo ashes entirely and instead will offer a music-oriented service that will be livestreamed.
The Rev. Jonathan Hauerwas said the church on West Market Street has been all online since before Easter a year ago.
Born in Paintersville PA, he had resided in the Tampa Bay area since 1953.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Keatts and son-in-law, Glenn, of Westminster, MD, a son, Matthew Snook and daughter-in-law, Charlie, of Tampa, grandsons Daniel Snook (Atlanta) and Christopher Snook (Denver), and stepdaughter, Debi Haager and husband, Jimmy, of Brandon. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred D. Snook, second wife, Chris Scogin Snook, brothers Clair, Arthur, and Fred Snook, sister Frances Lundvall, and their spouses.
He was a naval veteran of WWII, graduated from the U. S. Navy V-12 program, went to Midshipmen’s School at Fort Schuyler NY and received his commission in the Navy at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. After finishing service in the Pacific, he graduated from Yale University in 1948 along with to-be President George H. W. Bush, among others.
