Isidore Torres, the first Hispanic judge in the Wayne County courts system, died Jan. 12 at age 73. Torres, an ardent advocate for Latino communities, active Detroit businessman and family man, had been diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma in September and underwent chemotherapy. He later contracted the coronavirus and died from complications of COVID-19, according to his son, Felipe Torres. He was treated at Beaumont Hospital in Troy.
