Law enforcement facing staffing shortages in NE Florida

First Coast law enforcement agencies are feeling staffing shortages Spokespeople for several local law enforcement agencies said they re doing well hiring patrol deputies, but are having a hard time on the corrections side. Staffing shortages aren t just a problem for restaurants.  According to a survey by the National Police Foundation in 2020, 86% of departments around the country are short-staffed.  Agencies on the First Coast aren t an exception.  A spokesperson for the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office said they re not having issues filling patrol positions, but they ve had a hard time filling corrections positions. As of Monday,  there were 80 vacancies in corrections. It s a number that has decreased recently, though, thanks in part to a bonus incentive program for corrections recruits, the spokesperson said.

Tristyn died of force trauma by stabbing and her cause of death was ruled by the medical examiner as a homicide, the St. Johns County Sheriff s Office announced on Tuesday. We will continue to investigate this case fully and will begin transitioning this case to the State s Attorney Office, the sheriff s office said in a statement.

Aiden Fucci latest news – Tristyn Bailey, 13, stabbed to death as cops charge St Johns County teen with her murder

Fucci was arrested on Sunday evening and is being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice. Aiden and Tristyn both attended Patriot Oaks Academy in St. Johns, Florida. A photograph that was circulating on social media following Tristyn’s death appeared to have been posted on Aiden’s Snapchat account showing him in the back of a cop car, holding up a peace sign with the caption “hey guys has inybody [sic] seen Tristyn lately”. St. Johns County Sheriff Robert Hardwick confirmed Monday morning that Tristyn’s body has been found. Hardwick confirmed that Bailey’s body was was fully clothed.
